ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY 

Driscoll’s is seeking for Line Leaders to join the team at our Packhouse site, based in Linton, Kent.

This role requires flexibility with working hours, being able to work weekends, and willing to work longer hours as and when the business requires. Earliest start time 7am, latest finish time 9pm.

Pay rate is £13.65 per hour, any weekly hours over 40 paid at an overtime rate of £20.50 per hour.

 

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

  • To ensure product is packed as efficiently adhering to customer requirements, within a safe environment. To ensure all packaging, labels are available and to help improve production flow and speed of changeovers. To follow all set procedures, correct data entry within PR3. Understand and influence positive stock control, both physically and within PR3 system.  Being responsible for the LSO (Line support operative). Promote continuous improvement, by positive communication and people management.
  • Responsible for all related activities that could affect product safety, legality, authenticity, quality, and brand integrity in accordance with site policies and procedures. 
  • Maintain standards of health & safety, hygiene, and security. Adhere to environmental practices.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • To continuously train and motivate employees working on their line ensuring everyone is fully aware of what is required from them. This includes efficiency, quality standards, hygiene policy and health & safety.
  • Liaise with QA & product allocation team to be aware of potential raw material quality issues.
  • Manage and lead the LSO and own production operatives to include performance monitoring, coaching, training and developing to produce a multi skilled production team.
  • Continually to challenge and improve on all KPI’s set in the packhouse.
  • Ensure best utilisation of raw material is achieved during packing to target estimated outturn levels, fulfil customer quality expectations and to a deadline.
  • Ensure all product packed meets customer specifications. This includes product quality, labelling, product temperature and product weight. The line leader should fully understand and demonstrate all customer specification.
  • To ensure all systems and procedures are adhered to and logged digitally or via written records as required. Correct data entry into PR3 is key. Live stock control, closing jobs on line. Monitoring wip in / wip out accuracy. 
  • To have an awareness of Health and Safety rules and ensure these are followed by all employees working in the packhouse.
  • To drive continuous improvement and innovation within the process, working environment, departmental relationships, efficiency and quality. Actively look for improvements and raise suggestions to the production management, senior SIC team.
  • Adhere to the clean as you go policy by ensuring your working area is kept clean and tidy at all times. This is to include your machines and ProSeal tooling.
  • Plan to ensure a smooth change over from each task ensuring the target change over time is met. Give guidance to your LSO to ensure the above is carried out.
  • To ensure everyone working in the pack house adheres to the company hygiene policy.
  • To ensure the packing lines are achieving the target efficiency level and all employees working on the lines are achieving the target speed (UPPPM).
  • To ensure effective inter-departmental communications and between departmental staff and management.
  • Provide clear, timely and regular communication to ensure the team including your LSO is abreast of all relevant information ie. Product specification changes, quality issues, general customer feedback and general customer information.
  • Manage labour resources (both Driscoll’s and agency) to enable performance standards to be achieved and exceeded.
  • Work on the production line to encourage and motivate team members to meet their potential.
  • Ensure technical and legislative requirements are fulfilled during the production process.
  • Lead by example, continually police adherence to food safety, general food hygiene and H&S processes.
  • Proactively manage operational H&S aspects for staff, equipment and premises within your remit of control.
  • To raise any issues with the Production Management Team.
  • Other ad hoc duties as required.
